| Southern Nurseries Inc. (SNI) as you know
it today has been 17 years in the making. In 1983 Terry Flatt, founder
and president of SNI started in the "green industry" with a lawn service
company known as Southern Lawn. Over the next 5 years as his business and
reputation flourished, Southern Lawn evolved into Southern Lawn and Landscape
with its headquarters at 3738 Dickerson Pike in Nashville. From that location
Terry and company were able to continue their maintenance and landscape
operations as well as develop a budding landscape supply business, As the
supply side of the operation became more prominent, especially topsoil,
mulches and nursery stock, it became obvious to everyone involved that
this should be the company's primary focus. To that end in I995 the company
became SNI with Terry and his wife Kim as the principal owners. At this
time they discontinued the maintenance and installation business and devoted
their full energies to becoming a major supplier of landscape materials.
Over the years SNI has always been a "family
oriented" endeavor as evidenced by the
involvement of the entire Flatt family, as well as, several key
long term employees.
